Men’s Hockey Duo Signs Deal with SPHL’s Evansville Thunderbolts

BOSTON – Suffolk men's hockey seniors Mikhail Bryan and LJ Fellows will continue their playing days as the pair inked deals with the Evansville Thuderbolts of the Southern Professional Hockey League earlier this week.

Bryan and Fellows each signed amateur tryouts with the Thunderbolts Monday, March 4.

Bryan, a four-year member of Chris Glionna's Rams, split his time in blue-and-gold as a defenseman and forward. After defending the blue line for his first two seasons, he transitioned into the attack mode in the middle of his junior campaign and made his name known right away with a then-career season in scoring with 12 goals and eight assists. The Dayton, Ohio native upstaged those numbers as a senior captain this season when he led Suffolk in points (24) and helpers (15) and was second on the squad in markers with nine.

Fellows was one of the Rams top defenders since coming to Boston as a sophomore in 2016-17. Over 74 games played in a Suffolk sweater he put together a stat line of six goals and 19 assists for 25 career points, 12 of which came his senior season. The Hyannis, Massachusetts, product was the top scoring defenseman in 2018-19 with four markers and eight helpers and sat fourth overall on the team in points (12).

As seniors this year, the pair helped Suffolk secure a spot in the New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) playoffs after upsetting a pair of top 25 opponents to finish with a 5-13 league ledger. The Rams run ended in the final two minutes of the quarterfinals as the eventual conference champion, then-No. 5 Norwich scored with just 1:49 minutes remaining in regulation to end the blue-and-gold's season.

Evansville Thunder is one of 10 teams that comprise the SPHL, a professional ice hockey league based in Huntersville, North Carolina. The Thunder, who joined the SPHL in 2016-17, competes in Ford Center in Evansville, Indiana.
