No. 11 Endicott Ends Men’s Hockey’s Season in CCC Quarterfinals

BEVERLY, Mass. – In its first-ever Commonwealth Coast Conference postseason appearance, the Suffolk men's hockey fell behind early to No. 11 Endicott and could not climb back as the Rams ultimately fell to the Gulls, 10-2, Saturday afternoon at Raymond J. Bourque Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Seven different Gulls all found the back of the net over the first 20 minutes to put the Rams in a 7-0 hole after the first period. 

The team's traded goals in the second with Endicott's Anthony Petrella connecting on his second strike of the night just 1:54 into the middle stanza. Brian Brooks put Suffolk on the board at the 15:24 minute mark on the power play thanks to feeds from Jack Kelly and Nick Abbene

Suffolk was unable to rally behind Brooks marker and went into the final frame trailing 8-1. Endicott did more damage in the third with Joseph Slovak and Josh Bowes each scoring over a 16-second span to give the Gulls double digit goals. Jack Jenkins capped off the game and his collegiate career with a goal with just 45 seconds remaining for the final 10-2 margin.   

KEEPING UP WITH THE KEEPERS

  • Michael Levine wrapped up his junior slate 9-10-3 and made 13 saves in 13:14 of action.
  • Will Ribas made 30 stops in 46:46 minutes of relief work.
  • Mark Specia picked up the victory for the Gulls. He turned aside 12 attempts, while Justin Ketola recorded 10 stops as he defended the pipes for the final period. 

STATISTICALLY SPEAKING

  • Brooks and Jenkins each scored for Suffolk.
  • Abbene, Matt Bucher, Mikhail Bryan, and Kelly all recorded on assist in the outing. 

NOTEWORTHY

  • Suffolk competed in the CCC postseason for the first time in Rams' history.
