CHARLESTOWN, Mass. – In its final home contest of 2016, the Suffolk men's hockey team suffered a 5-2 setback as SNHU relied on freshman Jared Goudreau's first collegiate hat trick to take down the Rams in non-league action Tuesday night at Emmons Horrigan O'Neil Memorial Rink.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Goudreau skated the Penmen to a 2-0 advantage with respective tallies in the opening 2:04 and closing 1:09 of the opening period and junior Timothy Baylis extended SNHU's edge to three goals with a power play marker that came 6:35 into the middle stanza.
The Rams closed the gap back to within one with just over seven minutes to play in the period on goals by seniors Brett Lawson and Stanton Turner that came 2:28 apart, but Baylis restored the visitors' edge with his second strike of the night that came with 2:03 on the clock in the second.
Goudreau closed out the scoring by completing his hat trick near ing the midway mark of the final stanza, as the Penmen avenged a 5-1 setback suffered to Suffolk on their home ice nine days ago in the third place game of the PAL Manchester/Stovepipe Cup.
STATISTICALLY SPEAKING
- Suffolk held a lead in shots, 33-27, while the Penmen commanded the face-off circle, 44-38.
- The Penmen took advantage of their power play opportunities, going 2-for-3 with a man up, while the visitors also performed well on the penalty kill, shutting down all four of the Rams chances.
- Lawson and Turner accounted for Suffolk's two scores, while senior Danyil Medvedev and freshmen Bryan Etter and Brian Brooks collected assists on the two Ram goals.
KEEPING UP WITH THE KEEPERS
- Sophomore Michael Levine made 16 stops in just over 49 minutes of action in the setback for Suffolk.
- Senior Kevin Venturoso added six saves for the hosts.
- Ryan Slatky earned his eighth win in 10 decisions on the season with a 31-save effort in goal for SNHU.
NOTEWORTHY
- Lawson put the puck away for the first time this season.
- Brooks has recorded one point in the last two games, dishing out one assist in each outing to rack up a two-game point-streak.
