UNE Shutouts Men’s Hockey

BIDDEFORD, Maine – The Suffolk men's hockey team fell in a hole early and could not climb out of it as the University of New England piled on the the goals and kept the Rams off the scoreboard to blank the blue-and-gold, 8-0, in Commonwealth Coast Conference action Thursday night at Harold Alfond Forum.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Nor'easter's Trevor Fleurent matched a UNE school record with four goals, all of which came over the first 20 minutes, to power the hosts to the shutout.

Behind Fleurent's four tallies in the first frame, UNE took a 5-0 lead into the first intermission and tacked on two goals in the second and one in the third to seal the 8-0 victory. 

STATISTICALLY SPEAKING

  •  UNE doubled Suffolk's shot output, 50-23. 
  • The Rams, however, won the battle inside the face-off circle, 40-33. 

KEEPING UP WITH THE KEEPERS

  • The Rams had all three of their goaltenders in uniform see action. Michael Levine played just over half of the game and piled up 25 stops. Kevin Venturoso, who opened the contest, and Will Ribas combined for 17. 
  • Tate Sproxton earned the shutout in net for the Nor'easters, totaling 23 saves.

Suffolk returns to the Bay State Saturday, Dec. 3 when the Rams welcome Nichols to Emmons Horrigan O'Neil Memorial Rink for a 7:30 p.m. puck drop.
