HOOKSETT, N.H. – The Suffolk men's hockey team snapped its four-game skid Sunday afternoon as the Rams defeated Southern New Hampshire, 5-1, in the consolation contest of the 23rd Manchester PAL/Stovepipe Tournament at the Ice Den Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Suffolk broke open the scoring thanks to an unassisted marker by Stanton Turner at the midway point of the first frame. Coming out of the first intermission leading 1-0, the Rams quickly built a two-goal lead as David Lappin potted the puck just 15 seconds into the second stanza thanks to a set up by Danyil Medvedev.
Justin Holliday stretched Suffolk's lead even further with a score at 12:03 into the second period, but SNHU answered just 39 seconds later to bring it back to a two-goal game.
With just under two to play before the second break, Connor Parent put his second goal of the season away to regain a three-goal advantage for the Rams.
Jack Jenkins' first goal of the year gave Suffolk a 5-1 cushion with just under five remaining in regulation and the Rams held off any comeback attempt from the Penmen to collect the non-conference victory.
- Suffolk held a slim edge in shots, 40-39.
- SNHU dominated the faceoff circle, 54-25.
- Bishop was the lone Ram with a multi-point effort as the sophomore helped on two Suffolk scores – Holliday's and Parent's.
- Holliday, Jenkins, Lappin, Parent and Turner all recorded one goal apiece for Suffolk, with Medvedev contributing one assist.
KEEPING UP WITH THE KEEPERS
- Kevin Venturoso picked up his first mark in the win column this season thanks to a 38-save effort.
- Matthew MacInnis earned the nod for the Penmen. He let in three of his 20 shots faced in 32 minutes of action.
- In a relief effort, Kurt Gutting went 27:57 with 18 saves and two goals allowed.
NOTEABLES
- The win marks Suffolk's third straight in the all-time meetings against SNHU.
- Thanks to an assist on Lappin's goal, Medvedev ran his point-streak to five straight. The stretch, which is the longest of his career, features four goals and three assists.
- Bishop is also on a career-best point streak with four. Over that time he has scored three goals and dished out six assists.
- Holliday (3-1-4) and Lappin (2-2-4) each extended their point streaks to three games, while Parent (1-2-3) has notched points in back-to-back outings.
