Men’s Hockey Returns to Win Column, Upends SNHU, 5-1

HOOKSETT, N.H. – The Suffolk men's hockey team snapped its four-game skid Sunday afternoon as the Rams defeated Southern New Hampshire, 5-1, in the consolation contest of the 23rd Manchester PAL/Stovepipe Tournament at the Ice Den Arena.

THE BASICS
SCORE: Suffolk 5, Salve Regina 1
RECORDS: Suffolk (3-5-2) | SNHU (6-3-0)

HOW IT HAPPENED
Suffolk broke open the scoring thanks to an unassisted marker by Stanton Turner at the midway point of the first frame. Coming out of the first intermission leading 1-0, the Rams quickly built a two-goal lead as David Lappin potted the puck just 15 seconds into the second stanza thanks to a set up by Danyil Medvedev

Justin Holliday stretched Suffolk's lead even further with a score at 12:03 into the second period, but SNHU answered just 39 seconds later to bring it back to a two-goal game.

With just under two to play before the second break, Connor Parent put his second goal of the season away to regain a three-goal advantage for the Rams.

Jack Jenkins' first goal of the year gave Suffolk a 5-1 cushion with just under five remaining in regulation and the Rams held off any comeback attempt from the Penmen to collect the non-conference victory.
