HOOKSETT, N.H. - In the opening game of the 23rd Manchester PAL/Stovepipe Tournament, the Suffolk men's hockey team went down to the wire against its Bay State rival UMass Dartmouth, but the Corsairs outdid the Rams, 5-4, Saturday afternoon at the Ice Den.

HOW IT HAPPENED
After a scoreless opening, UMass Dartmouth quickly built a two-goal lead over a 3:31 span. The Corsairs struck first just 8:47 into the period and again at 12:18 to go up 2-0. Dartmouth held off the Rams over the first 20 to take a 2-0 advantage.
Danyil Medevdev put Suffolk on the scoreboard just 18 seconds into the second stanza as the senior kept his point streak alive with his fourth score of the season. After UMass rebuilt its two-goal lead, less than a minute passed before Tommy Bishop struck for his first goal of the day and the sophomore put his second away with under one minute remaining before the second intermission to tie things up at 3-all.
The Corsairs regained their advantage once again in the third frame on a shorthanded goal with just under 13 minutes remaining in regulation. A Dartmouth goal at 18:27 put the Rams in a two-goal hole once agai. Justin Holliday responded for the Rams 28 seconds later, but Suffolk's last ditch effort was not enough as the Corsairs went on to lock up the 5-4 win.

A foursome of Rams contributed four-point efforts in Bishop (2 goals), Holliday (1 goal, 1 assist), Medvedev (1 goal, 1 assist) and Parent (2 assists).
