RUNDOWN ON THE RAMS

  •  Suffolk returned to the win column last week, picking up wins against Southern New Hampshire, 5-2, and Becker, 4-3, to move to 7-2-2 overall and 4-1-2 in ECAC Northeast action.
  • On the attack, a trio of Rams' skaters have reached the double-digit point plateau through the first 11 games; junior Justin Selep leads the way with a team-best 13 points (6-7-13), followed by freshman Justin Holliday (4-6-10) and Danyil Medvedev (6-4-10). With his four goals, junior Stanton Tuner (4-2-6) is tied along Holliday for the second-most scores.
  • Brandon Smolarek has been Suffolk's go-to net minder, starting all but one contest between the pipes for the Rams. In 10 games, Smoalrek has accumulated 309 saves, allowing 26 goals (.922 save percentage, 2.57 GAA). Behind him is junior Kevin Venturuso, who has seen time in two games, starting one. Venturuso has 28 saves on the year, letting just three goals past the goal line.

FLYING WITH THE RAVENS

  • Franklin Pierce enters Saturday with a 1-9 marking, dropping the last four and being outscored in those contests, 18-6.
  • Brad Riccardi leads the way offensively for the Ravens, as the sophomore forward put in two goals and four assists for a team-high six points. Sean Gargin (4-1-5) and Jonathan Haun (2-3-5) are also main contributors to Franklin Pierce's offense.

RIGHT ON, ROOKIES
The freshman class has made a significant impact for Suffolk this season. Rookie forward Justin Holliday's 10 points off four goals and three assists, are tied for second on the team. Freshmen forwards Tommy Bishop (3-5-8) and Nick Mosher (2-4-6) have eight and six points, respectively, while forwards Brendan Heinze and Connor Parent each scored three goals and handed out one helper. Defenseman Mikhail Bryan rounds out the rookie's with points as he defenseman has dished out two assists.

As a whole, the Class of 2019 accounts for 39.1 percent of the Rams' offense with 15 goals and 23 assists.

SHOW STOPPER
Brandon Smolarek has stood tall for Suffolk between the pipes and is a major reason why the Rams are 7-2-2 this season. The senior net minder has turned away 309 attempts, the second most among ECAC Northeast goalies. Smolarek boasts a .257 goals-against average and .922 save percentage, which both sit fourth and five, respectively,  in the league statistics.

The Chesterfield, Michigan native steered away 46 shots against Salve Regina November 4, the most by a Suffolk goal keeper since junior Kevin Venturoso stopped 52 attempts against Tufts January 8, 2014.

Smolarek's career total is now 31 shy of 2,000 saves, a milestone that was reached by just one other Ram since 1999-00, Jeff Ross '11 who owns Suffolk's all-time save with 2,799.

A HEAPIN' HELPIN' OF HELPERS
The Rams have done well to spread the puck around with 10 scorers registering multi goals, led by Danyil Medvedev's and Justin Selep's six. On 38 total goals this season, Suffolk has racked up 59 assists, led by Selep's seven. Holliday has dished out six helpers, with Tommy Bishop, Tyler Heineman and Simon Leahy passing out five handouts each.

GAME-WINNING GANG
Four of Suffolk's seven game-winning goals this season have been scored by upperclassmen with the remaining three coming of the sticks of first-years. Junior Justin Selep and freshman Justin Holliday have each have two game-winning tallies, while senior Zack Capozza, junior Stanton Tuner and freshman Nick Mosher all have game-winning scorers to their credit.
