Hockey Drops Non-League Game to Tufts

Sophomore George Pantazopoulos(Milton, Mass.) netted a pair of third period goals, including the game-winner with 5:54 remaining, to lead Tufts to a 4-2 non-league college ice hockey victory over Suffolk Tuesday evening at Steriti Rink.

Pantazopoulos singlehandedly propelled the visiting Jumbos (6-10-2) from a 2-1 deficit entering the final frame to the triumph, as he converted feeds from freshmen Dom Granato(Pittsburgh, Pa.) and Keith Campbell(Newark, Del.) in collecting the equalizer with 8:20 to play before netting the unassisted deciding tally just 1:26 later, as freshman Stewart Bell's (Marietta, Ga.) empty-netter with 25 seconds remaining accounted for the final score.

The host Rams (6-9-4) grabbed a 1-0 advantage with a minute to play in the opening stanza on junior Jon Stauffer's (Landsdale, Pa.) power play goal, and Suffolk extended that margin to 2-0 just 1:39 into the middle frame on sophomore Richard Woodworth's (Carlisle, Mass.) marker that came just two seconds after a man-advantage opportunity expired.Sophomore Andrew White(Rockland, Mass.) sliced Tufts' deficit in half with a power play goal on a five-minute major that came with 8:10 remaining in the second period, setting up Pantazopoulos's heroics in the closing minutes of action for the Jumbos.

Sophomore Blake Edwards(Columbus, Ohio) added a pair of assists in the win for Tufts, which also received a helper off the stick of senior Dylan Plimmer(Phoenix, Ariz.).Junior Wes Bonnell(Flenton, Del.) and sophomore Dan Mazzei(Tewksbury, Mass.) set up Stauffer's marker in the setback for Suffolk, which also received a feed from freshman David Lazaro(Canton, Mass.) on Woodworth's tally.
