GRAFTON, Mass. – The 2023 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Championships started Thursday morning with the Suffolk men's golf team sitting in fourth after the first round of play at the Highfields Golf & Country Club.

The Rams finished the first 18 holes with a 315, +15 on the par-72, 6,655 yard course. Roger Williams is in the driver seat with a 299 (+11) with Endicott right on the Hawks' heels with a 303 (+15) and Nichols (+305) two strokes behind the Gulls.

Individually, two Suffolk student-athletes are in the top-10 in the field off 45.

Senior captain Cameron Sinopoli shares sixth with a 75. That mark ties a Rams' 18-hole best at the CCC Championship, that was set by his brother Christopher Sinopoli and set on the second day of last year's at the Raceway Golf Club. The blue-and-gold's leader is five strokes behind day one's leader Colby Mitchell of Nichols, who shot two under par (70).

Speaking of Christopher Sinopoli. The sophomore put together a 79 to share 16th on day one at this year's championship.

Vijay Sakuru was between the Sinopoli's brother with a 77, good for a tie of ninth.

Two strokes separate Sakuru with Suffolk's Christopher Sinopoli. With a card of 79, the sophomore is in a share for 16th.

Jake Zirlin (T30th) and Jonathan Donovan (T37) round out the Rams on the course with an 84 and 88, respectively.

Suffolk's first golfer, Donovan, tees off tomorrow, Friday, Oct. 20 at 10:40 a.m., with his teammates – Zirlin (10:48 a.m.), Christopher Sinopoli (10:56 a.m.), Sakuru (11:04 a.m.) and Cameron Sinopoli  -- following every eight minutes after.
