Duke Nelson Invitational Serves as Men’s Golf 2022-23 Opener


BOSTON – Suffolk men's golf tees off on the 2022-23 season and the Ken DiMaggio era this weekend when it heads to Middlebury, Vermont for the 38th Duke Nelson Invitation at the Ralph Myhre Golf Course in Middlebury, Vermont.

RAMS REWIND
Suffolk earned a spot in the 2022 CCC Championship after finishing fourth at the CCC Qualifier in the fall. The Rams finished third in the four-team league field. 

RAMS RETURNERS
Half of Suffolk's eight-man roster is returns as juniors Dylan HeimVijay SakuruCameron Sinopoli and Mauro Stanchieri and sophomore Jake Zirlin. are back in blue-and-gold. 

RAMS ROOKIES
Suffolk men's golf will have a pair of rookies on its roster in 2022-23 as James Rooney and Christopher Sinopoli join the Rams.

RAMS RINGLEADER
Cameron Sinopoli is back as the sole captain of Suffolk men's golf for the 2022-23 season.

It is the fourth straight season that the Rams' men's golf team will be led by a single captain with Sinopoli starting his second term. The Marlborough, Massachusetts, native is the first blue-and-gold golfer to be named captain in back-to-back seasons.

GEOGRAPHY 101
The Rams come to Boston from two different states, with all, but one student-athlete from the Bay State. The other U.S. native hails from Illinois.

Two Rams are international based as Vijay Sakuru and Mauro Stanchieri made the trip from Bangalore, India and El Hatillo, Venezuela, respectively.

 CLASS CATEGORIES
The 2022-23 group is junior class heavy with five members of Suffolk's Class of 2024. To round out the group, there is one true freshman, one sophomore and one senior.            

COACH'S CORNER
Ken DiMaggio was hired as the newest head coach of Suffolk men's golf prior to the 2022-23 season.

DiMaggio comes to Suffolk with nearly five decades of golf professional experience under his belt with the head coaching role of the Rams his first collegiate team.

THE COURSE
The Ralph Myhre Golf Course is an 18-hole public course owned and operated by Middlebury College.  

LOOKING AHEAD
Suffolk gears up for the CCC Qualifier, which is on tap for Thursday, Sept. 22 at Green Valley Country Club in Portsmouth, Rhode Island. The Rams look to finish in the top four for the second straight year and earn a bid to the CCC Championships that will be played Spring 2023.
