Men’s Golf Tabbed Third in GNAC Championship Poll

BOSTON – Just a few days before the conference championship, the league office released the predictions of the eight head coaches for the 2019 GNAC Men's Golf Championship with the Suffolk men's golf squad project to finish third.  

The Rams earned 46 points to finish just behind the favorites Johnson & Wales and selected runner-up Southern Maine, who had a pair of first place nods for 51 points. 

JWU received six first-place votes to place on top of the eight-team poll with 61 points, while Southern Maine was 10 points behind the Wildcats with a. pair of first place nods. 

Following the Rams were UMass Dartmouth (38) and Rhode Island College (36) to complete the top five with Saint Joseph's (Maine) (32) sliding in sixth and Albertus Mangus (12) and Emmanuel (12) sharing seventh. 

The blue-and-gold has hit the fairways three times prior to the championship, with steady improvement. The Rams opened the season with a 13th-place finish at the two-day Duke Nelson Invitational, followed by a fifth-place per romance at the weekend long Blazers Invitational. Last Friday, Suffolk took its talents to the Valley Country Club in Warwick, Rhode Island for its final championship prep, the RIC Homecoming Invitational. At the quad meet, the Rams captured the crown to bring momentum into the two-day championship event. 

The GNAC title will be decided this weekend Oct. 12-13 with the eight teams coming together at Gorham Country Club in Gorham, Maine.
