Men’s Golf Ties for 13th at Duke Nelson Invitational

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – Suffolk men's golf teed off its 2019 fall season over the weekend at Middlebury's Duke Nelson Invitational at The Ralph Myhre Golf Course. The Rams shot a combined card of 618 over the two-day event to share 13th in the 16-team field. 

Suffolk upstaged its day one output of 313 with a 305 on day two to finish with a 618 overall, good for a share of 13th with Springfield. 

New York University won the event behind a team score of 579, 10 strokes ahead of runner-up Williams. 

Individually, Suffolk sent a four-senior, one-sophomore contingent to Middlebury, Vermont. 

Brian Dunleavy and Demetrois Stamoulis were the Rams' standouts as the sophomore and senior tied for 36th with one another after shooting a 152. Dunleavy improved o his day one score of 77 with a 75 on the second day on the green, while Stamoulis 78 on day one was upstaged by a 74 on the second day. 

Andrew Harper tied for 56th in the field of 118. Out of the blue-and-gold's first position, his 155 card came behind a 77 and 78, respectively. 

Owen Boggini and Elias Sachs rounded out the Rams on the 71-par course. Boggini finished with a share of 90th after shooting a 163 on the weekend and Sachs tied for 98th with a two-day score of 165.

Suffolk rests up over next weekend before venturing to Amherst, Massachusetts, September 29-30 for the Blazers Invitational. The two-day event will be played at the Hickory Ridge Country Club.
