Dunleavy Tabbed GNAC Men’s Golf Rookie of the Week

BOSTON – After his first collegiate competition, Brian Dunleavy of the Suffolk men's golf team has been named GNAC Rookie of the Week, the conference announced Monday afternoon.

Dunleavy was one of five Ram golfers to take the course in the blue-and-gold's season opener, the Emmanuel Invitational. Suffolk's team combined for a team card of 303 at the William J. Devine Golf Course last Tuesday to capture the quad-match title over Mitchell, Wentworth and invite host, conference counterpart Emmanuel.

From the No. 5 spot, Dunleavy, a native of Winchester, Massachusetts, produced an 81 overall, good for fourth on Suffolk's squad and just inside the top-10 overall in ninth in the field of 20 golfers.

He becomes the first Suffolk men's golfer to be acknowledged as the league's best rookie over a seven-day stretch since Owen Boggini garnered the recognition Oct. 10, 2016.

Dunleavy and Suffolk take this week off before heading back out on the green Tuesday, Sept. 25 at Emmanuel's Saint's Invitational at George Wright Golf Course in Hyde Park. Tee time is set for 1 p.m.
