2018 Begins at Emmanuel Invitational for Men’s Golf


BOSTON – The Suffolk men's golf team will tee off its 2018 slate Wednesday, Sept. 12 as the Rams take the green at the William J. Devine Golf Course at Franklin Park for the Emmanuel Invitational. Tee-time is set for 12 p.m.

RAMS RUNDOWN
Suffolk welcomes back its core clubs from last season's squad that notched the best showing at the GNAC Championships since 2014. Buoyed by upperclassmen including seniors Stephen Ferrante and Daniel Caissie, as well as juniors Owen Boggini, Andrew Harper, Elias Sachs and Demetrois Stamoulis, the Rams lineup will get a boost from eight newcomers including four true freshmen. 

THE COURSE
William J. Devine Golf Course at Franklin Park was established October 26, 1986 and is the second oldest public golf course in the national behind Van Corltandt Park in the Bronx borough of New York City. 

William J. Devine Golf Course is the place where the leading figures of golf converge in history: the player who won America's first professional match, Willie Campbell, became the first head professional here; the youngster who ushered the American game to the forefront of the world stage, Bobby Jones, honed his craft here; the world's premier golf architect, Donald J. Ross, re-designed the layout here

THE COMPETITION
Four teams will tee-off Wednesday afternoon including GNAC member and host Emmanuel. Mitchell and Wentworth will also take the green alongside the Ram and Saints.

AT THE HELM
Ed McMellen enters his 16th season at the head of Suffolk's men's golf program.

WHAT'S NEXT?
Suffolk will compete in the Saints Invitational Tuesday, Sept. 25, which will be hosted by Emmanuel at the George Wright Golf Course in Hyde Park, Massachusetts.
