Golf Team Places 7th In ECAC Championships

The Suffolk University Golf team placed in a three-way tie for seventh place at the 2011 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division-III New England Championship this past week. After Saturday's event was postponed due to inclement weather, the Rams shot a team total of 311 (+31) in the event.

Junior John Petteoruto (Windham, N.H.) was the Rams top shooter on the day as he carded a 75 (+3) on the afternoon for Suffolk.

Freshman Pablo Monteagudo was the second Suffolk golfer to finish among the top 20 scorers on the day as he posted a 78 (+6) on Sunday.

Freshman Guillermo Quirch (Miami, Fla.), senior Pat Knowles (Philadelphia, Pa.) and freshman Chris Taggert (Norwood, Mass.) rounded out the Rams five. Quirch scored 82, while Knowles scored an 84. Taggert finished the day at 88.

Salem State University finished with the best team score of the day as the Vikings recorded 296 tally (+8). Nick Zolotas had the top individual score shooting a 70 (-2) for Salem State.

Suffolk will participate in next week Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championship hosted by St. Joseph's College (Me.).
