Logan Liberty enters his sixth year as an assistant coach on Jeff Juron’s men’s basketball coaching staff in 2021-22, after taking the 2020-21 season off.

Over his first two seasons on the Rams’ bench, Liberty furthered his education at Suffolk as well and earned a Master’s Degree in Administration of Higher Education in December 2016. Throughout his schooling, he worked in Suffolk’s Athletic Department as a graduate assistant.

Since his post-graduate degree has been achieved, Liberty has helped the blue-and-gold to new heights, matter of fact, it was his second season as an assistant coach the turned this round. 

That campaign, 2017-18, the Rams captured the most victories (15-12) since 2001-02 and took down the most conference counterparts (9-7) since 2005-06 to grab the sixth seed in the league tournament. Highlights continued to pile up with a 69-65 quarterfinals upset over Saint Joseph’s (Maine) to move onto the semifinals for the fourth-time in program history. The semifinal run is the deepest postseason journey in the Juron era, the furthest the Rams went to GNAC glory since 2005-06. 

Suffolk was rewarded for its success on the hardwood as a record number of Rams were recognized by the conference. Brendan Mulson’s GNAC Rookie of the Year award highlighted the trio of student-athletes acknowledge, while Thomas Duffy (second team) and Michael Hagopian (third team) were also praised for their playing performances. With spots on the all-conference team, Duffy and Hagopian became the first pair to pick up all-league nods in the same season since 2005-06. 

A year later, Liberty was an ingredient to the highest win total since 1975-76, as the team ran its record to 18-8 and put together a 9-2 league ledger, good for second in the conference standings, the highest since 2002. 

The well-balanced team saw multiple noteworthy individual standouts highlighted by the 2018-19 NCAA Division III Statistical Champion for three-point field goal percentage Alexander Jacovides. With Jacovides prominence coming at the national level, junior Thomas Duffy and senior Steven DiPrizio were acknowledged on the conference stage with all-league nods on the first and third teams, respectively. Duffy hit an individual milestone as well, along with senior Michael Hagopian, with the pair each joined the Rams' 1,000-point club.  

On the bench in 2016-17, Liberty helped Suffolk to a 7-19 overall mark, 6-12 league ledger and fifth straight trip to the GNAC Tourney. Along the way, the first-year assistant coach, helped Michael Hagopian take home All-GNAC second team honors after the sophomore put out a standout season that featured back-to-back 30-plus point games, a first for a Ram in a decade. Liberty also aided in Suffolk’s first-ever GNAC Institutional Sportsmanship Award, while the Rams stood out in the classroom, garnering NABC Team Academic Excellence for the first time.   

Straight off the court from a four-year career with the Rams’ GNAC competitor Lasell, Liberty brought a fresh players perspective and a wealth of conference knowledge to a well-balanced coaching staff.  

As a player with the Lasers, the 6-foot-8 forward immediately made an impact as a freshman and continuously contributed up to his final campaign as a senior in 2015-16, in which he started every contest. Over his storied four-year career, Liberty saw action in 85 games averaging 5.5 points and 4.8 rebounds per contest. 

A Duxbury, Vermont, product Liberty established his playing roots at Harwood Union, where he earned varsity status in baseball and basketball. 

The son of Todd and Andra Liberty, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Sports Management with a minor in coaching from Lasell in May 2016.
