COLLEGE SPORTS COMMUNICATORS RELEASE 2023-24 MEN'S BASKETBALL ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT

BOSTON – Suffolk men's basketball's Evan Cook garnered College Sports Communicators Academic All-District, the national organization announced Tuesday afternoon.

Awarded by College Sports Communicators (CSC), formerly known as College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) to the most accomplished student-athletes for combined academic and athletic achievements each year since 1952, this is the longest-running and most prestigious academic and athletic award for student-athletes to receive.

The 2024 Academic All-District Men's Basketball Teams, selected by CSC, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. All nominees must have a GPA of at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale), be a starter or important reserve, and have competed in at least 50 percent of a team's competition. Each program is eligible to nominate up to four student-athletes.

Cook is one of 440 NCAA Division III men's basketball recipients including one of 10 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) honorees on the list that includes four student-athletes from Roger Williams and Wentworth, respectively, as well as one Endicott Gull.

Historically speaking, Cook is the second-ever Suffolk men's basketball player to take home academic all-distinction in the program's history, first since Ben Small did in 2009. It is the third-ever honor for the Rams' men's basketball program with Small owning a pair in 2006-07 and 2008-09.

The Dunstable, Massachusetts native, a grad transfer from Wheaton helped Suffolk reach the CCC Championship contest for the first time in program history. The All-CCC Second-Team selection provided 14.6 points, 3.1 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.1 steals per game. In the classroom, he has compiled a near perfect resume with a 3.965 GPA, while working towards his GPA.

Cook advances to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America®honorees will be announced Wednesday, April 17.
