BOSTON – Suffolk men's basketball looks to return to the win column Thursday, Jan. 6 when it ventures to Gordon for a 7:30 p.m. Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) contest.

SUFFOLK ATHLETICS 2021-22 FAN POLICY
Suffolk University Athletics, following guidance from the University's health and safety protocols, Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC), Centers for Disease Control and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, plans to allow fans to attend home athletic contests during the 2021-22 academic and athletic year.

Fans, whether vaccinated or unvaccinated, can attend games. They must be masked the entire time they are on campus, pursuant to institutional policy, and complete a health screening form at the security desk of each building upon arrival. This policy applies to home contests played on campus at the Ridgeway Building's Larry E. and Michael S. Smith Court, as well as the Emmons Horrigan O'Neil Memorial Rink and the Louis E. Porrazzo Memorial Skating Rink.

For outdoor outings, specifically at East Boston Memorial Park, fans are asked to respect COVID safety protocols. At this time, masks will not be mandated for fans no matter vaccinated status at outdoor venues.

LAST TIME OUT
Suffolk men's basketball saw its seven-game win streak come to a halt as the sharp shooting of Nichols defeated the Rams, 91-86, Tuesday night in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) as Larry E. and Michael S. Smith Court.

RAMS RUNDOWN
Suffolk suffered its second setback of the season Tuesday night in the form of a 91-86 decision to Nichols to move to 8-2 on the year and 3-1 in CCC action.  

The Rams' 87.2 ppg offense receives double figures from four different players in Nate Hale (17.9 ppg), Aidan Sullivan (12.6 ppg), John Gates (11.7 ppg) and William Rowe (11.4 ppg). 

Keenan Robertson's 6.7 rpg anchors the blue-and-gold's 39.3 rpg effort. Rowe adds 6.6 rpg and Sullivan supplies 4.4 rpg. 

FIGHTING SCOTS FACTS
Gordon wrapped up 2021 with a 78-69 win over UMaine Augusta to move to .500 (4-4) on the year. In CCC play, the Fighting Scots are 1-2 with a win over Wentworth (61-58) and losses to Endicott (82-55) and Western New England (87-85).  

A trio of players are consistent contributors to Gordon's 74.8 points per outing offense. Garrett Sattazahn leads the way with 14.3 ppg with Bryce Smith and Michael Makiej providing 13.5 ppg and 12.9 ppg, respectively. 

On the defensive side of play, Makiej's 7.3 rpg leads the way to pace the Fighting Scots' 42.4 rpg. Parker Omslaer chips in 6.8 rpg and Sattazahn's 6.0 rpg rounds out the top three threats on the glass. 

INSIDE THE SERIES

  • The Suffolk, Gordon rivalry is one of the oldest in the Rams' record books, dating back to 1967-68. 
  • The Rams and Fighitng Scots met every year from 1967-82 and one again on November 16, 1990. 
  • A year ago, the foes renewed a rivalry and split the home-and-home series. 
  • Suffolk is 11-7 all-time versus the Fighting Scots. 
  • Prior to 1977, the location of the contest between the Rams and Fighting Scots is unknown. In those meetings and in the 1981 battle, Suffolk is 5-5. 
  • As the home team, the blue-and-gold holds a 2-1 record. 
  • When playing on the road, the Rams are 4-0 against the Fighting Scots. 
  • The Rams are 1-1 versus Gordon in the Jeff Juron era. 
  • Suffolk and Gordon have gone into overtime twice. The Fighting Scots won each of those outings.
