BOSTON – On the second leg of a three-game stint on the road, the Suffolk men's basketball team will travel to Emmanuel Saturday afternoon to take on the Saints in GNAC action.

DOUBLE DIP
Saturday's matchup will be the second time the Rams will tip off against the Saints this season. In the teams' previous meeting, the Rams bested Emmanuel, 79-72, inside the Regan Gymnasium on December 5 as junior Matt Duquette and senior Jake Meister combined for 51 of Suffolk's 79 points. Duquette finished with a game-high 28 points, while Meister added 23 in the win. Adam Chick led the defense that day with seven rebounds.

LAST TIME OUT
In another conference matchup, Suffolk traveled to Albertus Magnus Wednesday night and fell to the Falcons 72-56. The loss marked the Rams' sixth in a row, dropping to 4-14 overall and 2-9 in conference play. 

Offensively, Matt Duquette led Suffolk with 20 points on 9-of-16 shooting. The 6-foot-6 forward also pulled down four rebounds. Jake Meister also registered double figures in the contest scoring 13 points and going 6-for-6 from the line, while also bringing downa team-high seven boards and adding six assists.

RUN DOWN ON THE RAMS

  • Suffolk (4-14, 2-9 GNAC) is 0-6 in its last six games after starting conference play at 2-3.
  • Matt Duquette and Jake Meister lead the Rams' offense, averaging 15.3 and 14.8 points, respectively. Meister is also shooting 79 percent from the line while Duquette is averaging 4.9 rebounds per game.
  • Suffolk puts in 63.2 points per game as a team on a 41.0 connection rate from the floor, 34.0 beyond the arc and 69.2 at the line. The Rams grab 32.1 boards per game led by Adam Chick's 5.8.

SOMETHING 'BOUT THE SAINTS

  • Currently on a 1-6 stretch in its last seven games, with the winning coming in the direct middle at Rivier (74-72) January 16, Emmanuel has lost three straight and sits at 3-14 overall and 3-8 in GNAC play. 
  • The foursome of Kyle Davis (14.2 ppg), Alex Minetti (11.1 ppg), John Clay (10.3 ppg) and Kyle Smith (10.3 ppg) are the Saints' main threats offensively with Davis' numbers coming in just 11 games, sitting out five of Emmanuel's last six. 
  • Davis leads the way defensively with 10.4 rpg with Clay (6.5 rpg) also contributing. 
  • The Saints squad puts in the sixth-best offense in the league (69.8 ppg), shooting 38.0 percent from the field, 21.1 percent from deep and 65.4 percent at the line, but gives up 78.4 ppg. Emmanuel is also being outrebounded by its competitors by a 3.1 margin.

The Rams will end the three-game road stretch Wednesday evening when they travel to play Anna Maria at 7 p.m. before returning home to host Norwich Saturday, Feb. 6 at 3:15 p.m.
