Men’s Basketball Plays Three Games in Five Days

BOSTON – The Suffolk men's basketball team will play three games over the next five days as the Rams host Albertus Magnus and Emmanuel and visit Johnson & Wales. Action will get underway in Boston against the Falcons Tuesday, before Suffolk visits Providence Thursday and things will wrap-up in Regan Gymnasium Saturday versus the Saints.

LAST TIME OUT
For the second straight game Jake Meister led the Rams as the Suffolk men's basketball team held off New England College, 76-73, Sunday afternoon Bridges Gym.

Meister was 6-of-13 from the floor and force at the line, shooting 5-of-7 for 19 points. Three Rams (2-3) joined Meister the double-digit points column. Adam Chick put in 18 on a 70 percent connection rate (7-10) from the field as the senior guard played a well-balanced floor game of 18 points, eight boards, three assists, two steals and one block. Classmate Matt Duquette filled up the state sheet with a double-double effort of 17 points, shooting 8-of-16, 12 caroms, three assists and one swat. Off the bench sophomore Matt McLean chipped in 10 points and three assists. 

Suffolk did not falter from its season average shooting percentage as it went 28-of-64 for 43.8 percent from the floor, including 36 points in the paint and six off the Pilgrims' five turnovers. For the second time in as many games Suffolk lead in rebounds, 41-27, and tallied three steals compared to New England's four.

RUN DOWN ON THE RAMS

• Suffolk opened its four-game over seven day stretch with a 76-73 thrilling victory at New England College to move to 2-3 on the year.  
• The Rams put together 71.0 ppg with a quartet of players contributing double figures. Jake Mesiter paces the pack as the senior scores the eighth-most points pet outing in the league, 15.6, off the ninth highest field goal percentage of 56.3 Classmate Matt Duquette sits second on the team and 12th in the conference with 14.4 points per contest, while sophomore Quinn McCartney adds 14.0 ppg. Senior Caleb Unni rounds out the foursome with 10.6 ppg.
• Defensively the Rams pull down 36.0 rebounds per game and hold a 1.6 rebound margin, the second highest amongst GNAC teams. Against Suffolk looks to its veteran leadership to lead the way as Chick pulls down a team-high 7.2 boards per outing, which also ranks ninth in the conference, with Duquette adding 6.8 rpg.

FACTS ON THE FALCONS

• After two convincing victories over Purchase State (101-84) and Mitchell (99-91), Albertus Magnus held on in its conference opener against Norwich, 65-64, to carry an undefeated 3-0, 1-0 GNAC record into Tuesday's game after nearly a week to prepare for the Rams.
• Albertus Magnus posts the best offense in the GNAC with 88.3 points per game, outscoring its opponents 88.3-79.7 and boasts the league's top rebounding performance with 48.3 boards per outing.
• Similar to the Rams, four Falcons average double digits in points. Shontaey Lovell's 20.0 ppg leads the way with Jaqhawn Walters (17.3 ppg), Chaunce Dunbar (11.0 ppg) and Bernard Kline (10.0) contributing to the effort.
• Lovell is a force on the board for Albertus Magnus with the most rebounds per game at 17.0 rpg. Walters also pitches in double figure rebounds with 10.0 rpg.  

WILDCAT WAYS

• Johnson & Wales, who will open GNAC action at Mount Ida Tuesday, Dec. 1, has won three straight since dropping the season opener.
• Quarry Greenaway and Tom Garrick are the main threats on the Wildcats offense as the two make up the GNAC's two top scorers. Greenaway provides 24.0 ppg, while Garrick puts in 21.5 ppg. Clayton Roker also chips in double digits for JWU with 12.5 ppg.
• The scoring twosome of Greenaway and Garrick are also the Wildcats top rebounders as the seniors each grab 7.5 rpg.

SOMETHING 'BOUT THE SAINTS

• Emmanuel has not marked a tally in the win column this season, but will play two games before visiting Regan Gymnasium Saturday. The Saints will visit Saint Joseph's of Maine Tuesday and host Albertus Magnus Thursday.  
• The trio of Kyle Davis (19.5 ppg), Alex Minetti (14.0 ppg) and Kyle Smith (12.5) are the Saints' main threats offensively.
• Defensively, Davis' 14.5 rpg leads the way for Emmanuel.

COMING UP
Suffolk takes a week off before wrapping up first semester Monday, Dec. 14 versus Wheelock at 8 p.m. The game will serve as the night cap in a double header with the Rams' women's team.
