Rams Defeated by Lasers 88-74

The Suffolk University Men's Basketball team hosted the Lasell College Lasrers in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action on Thursday night. The Rams were defeated 88-74.

The Lasers were the first to get on the board with a jump shot from senior Brandon Ganesh (West Palm Beach, Fla.). The Rams soon answered with a layup from junior Sam Nwadike (Houston, Tx.). Lasell went on a seven point streak to put them up 11-2 with 16:04 on the clock. The Rams would cut the lead to 10 with just under 10 minutes in the half when sophomore Caleb Unni (Winchester, Mass.) would sink a three pointer to make it 25-15. This rallied Suffolk to cut the lead to 37-30 going into the half.

The Rams came out looking to cut the deficit in the second half. Midway through Lasell's Sonny Mello (Fall River, Mass) made a jump shot to put the Lasers up 62-49 one of their biggest leads on the night. Freshman Frantz Pinard (Arlington, Mass.) answered with a three pointer to cut the lead back to 10. Despite the Rams best effort they were unable to overtake the Lasers.

The Rams forced 13 turnovers that converted into 12 points.

The Rams had three players hit double digits. Unni tallied 19 points and eight rebounds. Nwadike had 15 points on the night and Pinard chipped in with 14 points.

Ganesh lead all scorers with 25 points and nine rebounds. He was 6 for 11 on the three point line.

Clyde Niba (Atlanta, Ga.) had the night's only double double with 21 points and 11 rebounds.

This loss drops the Rams to 9-15 overall and 6-11 in GNAC play. The Lasers improve to 14-10 for the season and 11-6 in conference action.

The Rams will be hosting Norwich on Saturday in GNAC action at 3:00 pm. The Lasers will host conference rival St. Joseph's Maine on Saturday at 3:00 pm.
