Falcons' Trio Soars Over Men's Basketball, 94-73

The Albertus Magnus College Falcons cruised to a 94-73 victory over the Suffolk University Men's Basketball team in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action on Saturday afternoon.

Three players combined for 75 points for the Falcons, who improve to a 10-1 overall record on the 2013-14 season. Junior Eian Davis (Brooklyn, N.Y.) led all players with 28 points on the afternoon, including a 12-for-14 shooting performance from the free-three line to help pace the Falcons offense. Junior Victor Ljuljdjuraj (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) recorded a double-double as he netted 25 points to go along with a game-high 17 rebounds, while senior Darius Watson (New Britain, Conn.) added 22 points for an team Albertus team who have now won all six of their contests in GNAC play thus far on the year.

Four Suffolk players finished the day registering double digit figures in points with freshman Frantz Pinard (Arlington, Mass.) netting a team-high 19 points. Juniors Matt Powers (Westwood, Mass.) and Sam Nwadike (Houston, Tx.) each scored 15 points, while sophomore Adam Chick (Northbrook, Ill.) chipped in with 11 points.

Albertus controlled most of the tempo throughout the first half as they were able to take a 45-33 lead with them into halftime. Ljuljdjuraj was strong in the opening twenty minutes of action as he led all players with 15 points and 10 rebounds through the first period of action.

The Falcons would open the second half with a 10-point run over the first three minutes of play with Ljuldjduraj scoring six of those points to help Albertus build their largest lead of the contest at 22 points, 55-33.

A layup by Matt Powers would get Suffolk down to a 12-point deficit with 6:36 remaining on the clock, but that was as close as they could get it as the Falcons were able to continue to space themselves out during the final minutes of play.

Albertus held a 46-39 advantage on the glass in the contest, and controlled most of the game in the paint as they outscored Suffolk 48-38 down low.

The loss drops the Rams to a 5-8 overall record and 2-4 mark in GNAC play.

Both teams will be back on the court on Wednesday evening in conference action. Albertus will host Anna Maria College at 7:00pm. Suffolk travels to Northfield, Vermont to take on Norwich University beginning at 7:00pm.
