BOSTON – Suffolk baseball aims to keep its winning ways going as it lifts the lid on a five-game home stay with a midweek-non-conference match Wednesday, April 24 against Salem State. Action is scheduled to start at 3:30 p.m.

Suffolk baseball's bats came alive and Harry Painter threw a two-hit, three-walk, 12-strikeout, 8.0-inning gem as the Rams took care of Saint Joseph's (Maine) Sunday afternoon at Larry M. Diamond.

RAMS RUNDOWN
Suffolk has rattled off three straight wins to carry an 18-13 overall mark into Wednesday's meeting.  

In the three-game win-streak, the Rams offense has outscored its foes 42-5. The blue-and-gold's top bats have produced over 40 hits in Jonny Gilbride (45), Harry Painter (45) and Garret Roberts (41). Gilbride has team-leading numbers in RBI and runs scored with 40 and 39, respectively. Painter has brought in 38 runs and scored 37 himself, while Roberts rounds out the trio with 34 runs scored and 26 RBI.  

TJ Dimitriou (20.0 IP, 13 K) is Suffolk's next pitcher in the Ram's rotation. Brett Bucklin (44.1 IP, 2.03 ERA, 33 Ks), Roberts (45.1 IP, 36 Ks) and Pierce Salbego (45.2 IP, 43 Ks) should be well-rested from the weekend as well with Patrick Desmond (15.2 IP, 22 Ks), John McDevitt (13.1 IP, 10 Ks) and Gregory Kaufmann (16.1 IP, 15 Ks) all likely relievers for the blue-and-gold's staff.  

VIKINGS VIEW
Salem State split a doubleheader with Mass. Maritime over the weekend to sit 14-12 on the year.  

Two bats have surpassed the 30-hit mark for the Vikings in Mark Smith (32) and Antonio Belgrove (31), but its Owen Duggan, who has brought in the most runs with 27 behind 28 hits including seven doubles and one triple. Smith has scored the most runs with 29 and he is swift on the base paths with 20 stolen bases.  

Cam Fisher (27.0 IP, 2.67 ERA, 14 K), Jake Usenia (12.2 IP, 7.82 ERA, 8k), Bobby Jellison (32.2 IP, 22 K) and Nola Currier (11.1 IP, 13 K) are the most well-rested arms in SSU's rotation. 

INSIDE THE SERIES

  • Suffolk and Salem State renew a rivalry, meeting for the first time since 2017.

RAMS RECOGNITION
For the second time in as many weeks Harry Painter of the Suffolk baseball team earned a weekly award from the Commonwealth Coast Conference office as he was named CCC Player of the Week after anchoring the Rams at the plate in a 4-1 week in which the blue-and-gold outscored its opponents 58-23, the league office unveiled Tuesday.

SUFFOLK'S SCHEDULE
The Rams have a full weekend in Eastie with a Commonwealth Coast Conference doubleheader Saturday, April 27 against Curry and a non-conference clash with Anna Maria Sunday, April 28. Both days have 12:00 p.m. first pitches.
