Browne Takes Home GNAC Pitcher of the Week

BOSTON – Parker Browne of the Suffolk baseball team was recognized by the conference as GNAC Pitcher of the Week after his winning, relief effort at Curry, the league office announced Monday afternoon.

With Suffolk trailing, 5-4 in the bottom of the fifth, Browne came in to take over the hill and did so in commanding fashion. The RHP from Shrewsbury, Massachusetts

, kept the Colonels off the scoreboard over the final 4.2 frames, allowing just one hit and no walks in that time, while punching out a career-high six batters to set-up Suffolk's comeback.

For his efforts on the bump, Browne took home the first weekly honor of his career and became the second Suffolk hurler of the year to be called the best arm over a seven-day stretch this season joining Worth Walrod, who picked up the recognition twice, April 1 and April 9. The nod marks the fourth for the Rams this year as Steven Rossi was tabbed the league's rookie of the Week March 12.

Browne and the Rams are set for a hectic week with six games on the slate with Tufts first up tomorrow, Tuesday, April 23. The Jumbos head to East Boston Memorial Park for a 4 p.m. non-conference clash.
