BOSTON – The Suffolk baseball team splits its weekend GNAC action on the road and at the friendly confines of East Boston Memorial Park with the Rams heading to Norwich Saturday, April 21, before welcoming Rivier to Eastie Sunday, April 22. Both conference contests have 1 p.m. starts.

LAST TIME OUT
The Suffolk baseball team put on an offensive show as the Rams ran past Albertus Magnus, 18-0, Wednesday night at East Boston Memorial Park.

RAMS RUNDOWN
Suffolk is on the verge of clipping .500 as the Rams sit 13-15 overall and 7-1 in league play. 

Brady Chant and Seth Coiley have been the most consistent contributors at the dish for the Rams. Chant has team-best numbers in every category as the senior centerfielder has 37 hits, 16 RBI on a .343 batting average with 23 runs and 14 stolen bases. Coiley, meanwhile, is hitting .315 and holds 28 hits, 11 RBI and has scored 15 runs.   

On the hill, Suffolk's starting rotation has found its grove as of late with three of its five starting arms landing 1-2-3 in the league for the best ERA. Mark Fusco falls first with an ERA of 1.93 through five starts, six appearances and 32.2 innings of work. The senior RHP has sat down a team-high 28 hitters. Tyler Zell is second on the squad in the conference with a 2.10 ERA. The junior has started three of his seven appearances with 30.0 frames under his belt and 20 Ks to his credit. Kevin Sinatra rounds out the trio with an ERA of 2.54 in six starts, 39.0 innings, with 23 punchouts.

CADETS CATCHUP
Norwich split with Lasell last Saturday to earn just its second victory the season as the Cadets sit 2-17 on the year and 2-2 against conference competition. 

As a team, Norwich is hitting .242 and is led by freshman Jacob Parizo at the plate. The rookie, who is hitting .348, has 16 hits, five RBI and two runs on his stat line. Senior Ed Gates has provided 10 hits and one RBI on a .345 connection rate at the dish with three runs to his credit. 

The Cadets staff has put together a combined ERA of 8.49. Jake Ryan has seen the most action on the mound. In six starts and 31.2 innings, the junior has put together a 5.12 ERA with 21 Ks. Luke Johansen is also a go-to for Norwich with three starts and 20.1 frames of experience in his freshman season. Johansen owns an ERA of 5.75 and has fanned 16 hitters.

INSIDE THE SERIES
Since Anthony Del Prete has taken over the program, Suffolk has yet to fall to Norwich, winning the last six meetings. Overall, the Rams hold a 36-1 all-time series lead over the Cadets.  

EYES ON THE GAME

RAIDERS REVIEW
Rivier has yet to fine the win column in the month of April as it comes into the weekend on an eight-game skid that put the Raiders at 5-18 overall and 0-6 in league action. Prior to coming to East Boston Saturday, Rivier will entertain Johnson & Wales Saturday. 

Tyler Ferdinand has been the force at bat for the Raiders this season. The senior boasts a .405 batting average with 34 hits, 16 RBI and 22 runs scored to his credit. Brendan Sullivan has added 24 hits and 15 RBI on a .308 average to go along with 12 runs scored. 

The Raiders staff ERA comes in at just under 10. Zachery Rodrigues' 4.74 ERA is the lowest of the main starting arms. The freshman has seen 24.2 innings in two starts and five appearances and owns 29 strikeouts. Kyle Flanagan has the most experience on the rubber, 32.1 innings in seven starts. The junior has fanned a team-best 31 hitters, but holds an ERA of 10.2.

Suffolk commands the all-time series with Rivier, leading 36-5, including three consecutive wins over the Raiders.

CHANT CHECK IN
Brady Chant is still on the hunt to make history this season. The senior, who record his 200th career hit earlier in 2018, third all-time on Suffolk's hit list (2018), and total bases (321), while sitting second in stolen bases (60). Chant sealed his spot as the Rams record holder in triples (24) last season. 

COMING UP
Suffolk is set for the final week of the regular season where it will use non-conference clashes at Tufts, Tuesday, April 24, and UMass Dartmouth, Thursday, April 26 to prep for Saint Joseph's (Maine), Saturday, April 28.
