NORWOOD, Mass. – The Suffolk baseball team saw its five-game win streak come to a halt Wednesday night as the Rams fell to Wheaton, 14-3, at Sidell Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Wheaton's first three hitters loaded the base, but Suffolk's defense only gave up one run to keep the deficit close.
The Rams wasted no time in responding as they juiced the bags with three singles and took advantage of a passed ball to even the playing field. Ben Isaak then plated the go-ahead run and added another as the sophomore scored Blasé Cormier and Steven Shamnoski to give the Rams a 3-1 edge.
The Lyons matched Suffolk's three runs with three of its own in the home half of the inning to regain a 4-3 margin.
A scoreless fourth was followed by a four-run fifth from the hosts that put the game just out of reach for the Rams, who then trailed 9-3. An inning later, the Lyons added to their advantage with five more runs, 14-3, and kept Suffolk off the scoreboard the remainder of the way to hold onto the non-conference decision.
PITCHERS PICTURE
- Charles Batchelder moved to 3-2 on the season after allowing nine runs on 14 hits and one walk through 5.2 innings.
- Parker Browne (1.0 IP, 5 R, 3 H, 3 BB) and Johnny Maffei (1.1 IP, 1 H, 3 K) each came out of the pen for the Rams.
- The Lyons used three different arms on the hill as well with Brady Furdon earning the win behind 6.0 frames that saw three runs, two earned, on five hits with three strikeouts.
STATISTICALLY SPEAKING
- A trio of freshmen all produced two hits to anchor Suffolk's seven-hit outing; Isaak (2-3), Shamnoski (2-3) and Cormier (2-4).
- Isaak had the lone extra-base hit on the afternoon for the blue-and-gold, a double, and the third basemen picked up both of Suffolk's RBI.
- Cormier and Shamnoski each scored one run apiece.
- Greg Speliotis contributed one hit and one run to Suffolk's offense.
NOTEWORTHY
- Isaak stretched his hit streak to four straight contests and matched a career-best two hits.
- Shamnoski posted a personal-best two hits.
- Cormier, who is now on a six-game hit streak, matched his career-high of hits with two.
- Speliotis extended his hit streak to six.
