BEVERLY, Mass. – The Suffolk baseball team slipped to Endicott, 3-2, at North Field Monday afternoon in non-conference action.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Endicott rocked a two-run bomb in the first and added one run in the home half of the second to put the Rams ina three-run hole early.
Suffolk made up ground in the top of the fifth with a pair of runs to trim the deficit to one. Blasé Cormier led off with a single up the middle and Rich Gilbride followed suit with a single to right field. Steven Shamnsoki rocked a single to left field to bring in Cormier and put the Rams on the scoreboard. Two strikeouts and a pitching chance later,Trevor Lee hit the Rams fourth single of the frame to bring in Gilbride to made it a 3-2 game.
The Rams held the Gulls the rest of the way, but could not capitalize on base runners on the sixth, eighth and a pair in the ninth to suffer the 3-2 setback.
PITCHERS PICTURE
- In his first start of the season, Tyler Zell gave up three runs, two earned, on six hits with four strikeouts through 7.0 innings.
- Parker Browne threw 1.0 inning of scoreless relief with one hit and one walk allowed.
- Four different hurlers saw action for the Gulls with relief arm Will Ferreira earning the victory behind a scoreless 3.0 innings with one hit, two walks and a pair of Ks.
- Starter Joseph Oriola allowed two runs on five hits and one walk with five punch outs through 4.1 innings.
- Alexandra Mandrus (0.2 IP, 1 H, 2 Ks) and Will Bryant (1.0 IP, 2 H) each came in for Endicott.
STATISTICALLY SPEAKING
- Cormier was one-of-two Rams with two hits as the freshman went 2-for-4 with one run scored.
- Ben Isaak also had two hits with an identical 2-for-4 performance at the plate.
- Gilbride and Lee each had one hit good for one RBI apiece.
- Seth Coiley, Greg Speliotis and Shamnoski all had one hit to their credit.
- Shamnoski tallied one run.
NOTEWORTHY
- Zell made his first start of the season.
- Cormier matched a career-high two hits.
- Isaak produced a career-high two hits in his first collegiate start.
- Shamnoski recorded his first collegiate RBI.

Suffolk will be back at it tomorrow, Tuesday, April 3 with its first home game of the season versus Rhode Island College. First pitch at East Boston Memorial Park is set for 4 p.m.
