EAST BOSTON – The Suffolk baseball team came back from an eight-run deficit, but could not hold off a late rally from UMass Dartmouth as the Corsairs took a 13-8 non-conference game from the Rams Thursday night at East Boston Memorial Park.

HOW IT HAPPENED
UMass Dartmouth grabbed an 8-0 edge after two innings with four runs in the first and second inning, respectively. Suffolk started its comeback, scattering eight runs over the second through fifth frames to equalize the contest at 8-all.
After a scoreless sixth and seventh, in which Suffolk stranded two, UMass Dartmouth used a three RBI dinger by cleanup hitter Ezequiel Snachez to go ahead 11-8. The Corsairs added another run in the top of the eighth to go up by four.
The visitors tacked on an insurance run in the top of the ninth and the Rams were retired in order in the home half of the final frame to keep the game in UMass Dartmouth's favor.
STATISTICALLY SPEAKING
- Seth Coiley and Curtis Tirone each produced two hits for the Rams. Coiley went 2-for-5 with two runs scored, while Tirone had a 2-for-3 day with one double for two RBI and scored one run.
- Matt Brenner (1-3), Luke Ronchi (1-3) and Kevin Higgins (1-4) each had one hit for Suffolk.
- Higgins, BJ Neil and Brady Chant contributed one RBI apiece.
- Brenner came home twice with Higgins, Ronchi and Trevor Lee each adding one run apiece.
PITCHERS PICTURE
- Wyatt Stanley fell on the mound in a relief effort. He allowed four runs on six hits and two walks in 2.0 frames with one strikeout.
- In the start, Kevin Sinatra gave up eight runs (seven earned) on 10 hits with three walks and four Ks.
- Tyler Zell also took the mound for the Rams, allowing one run on three hits and one walk in the final inning.
- The Corsairs used six arms from their Staff. Benjamin Lodge earned the decision in a 1.0 inning, one-hit, three-strikeout outing.

After a rest day Friday, Suffolk has five games over the next three days with a two-game series at Johnson & Wales set for Saturday, April 29 to conclude conference competition for the Rams. Game time is set for 12 p.m.
