Chant Nominated for DIII Offensive HERO of the Week

BOSTON – Brady Chant of the Suffolk baseball team has been named a nominee for Herosports.com DIII Baseball Hitting HERO of the Week thanks to his three triple performance against Anna Maria April 15. To vote for Chant, click here.

The performance was a part of a 5-1 week for the Rams in which the junior centefielder batted .429, slugged .929, scored 15 times and added eight RBIs en route to GNAC Corvias Player of the Week accolades. His highlight outing came in a 30-8 offensive onslaught over Anna Maria April 15. Chant went 3-for-6 with all three of his hits good for three bases with five runs scored and one brought in. The three triples are the most by a Ram in a single outing with two coming in the third inning, which ties an NCAA DIII record.

Chant followed his offensive output with his 10th triple of the season at Rhode Island College Monday to not only becoming Suffolk's single-season leader, but the all-time frontrunner with 20 triples throughout his career. Currently the 6-foot-3, rightie leads the nation in triples (10) and triples per game (0.43) to help Suffolk's sit atop NCAA DIII with 9.6 runs per game.

Suffolk and Chant are back in action tomorrow, Thursday, April 20 when they entertain Curry at East Boston Memorial Park in a non-conference showdown at 4 p.m.
