BOSTON – The Suffolk baseball team ran its GNAC win streak to eight games as the Rams put on an offensive showing in a 36-2 victory over Anna Maria Saturday afternoon at East Boston Memorial Park.

HOW IT HAPPENED
History repeated itself in the nightcap as the Rams quickly did damage. A bases loaded ground-rule double from Matt Brenner scored Brady Chant and Sean Cameron, before back-to-back base on ball made it a four-run game. Kevin Higgins doubled the Rams' lead as the sophomore second baseman cleared the bags with a grand slam over the left field fence.
Suffolk continued its offensive onslaught with multiple runs in the ensuing innings to lock up the 36-2 victory.
STATISTCALLY SPEAKING
- For the second straight game Suffolk recorded 20-plus hits, finishing the outing with 24 as 12 of the 16 Rams, who went to the plate recorded at least one hit.
- Belskie (3-3), Brenner (3-5), Chant (3-5) and Ronchi (3-5) all had three hits to their credit with Brenner, Belskie and Higgins each bringing in five runs apiece.
- Belskie added five runs scored to his impressive stat line with Ronchi matching that number, while the quartet of Chant, Brenner, Speliotis and Tirone all crossed home four times apiece.
PITCHERS PICTURE
- Kevin Sinatra went the distance on the hill. He allowed two runs on six hits in the 7.0 innings with three strikeouts and one walk.
- Anna Maria cycled through its pen with five different arms seeing action.
NOTEWORTHY
- The Rams' 36 hits are the most across NCAA Division III this season with Suffolk scoring the most runs since a 47-1 victory over Southern Vermont April 22, 2005.
- Suffolk's 12 doubles in the victory, set a new program record and tied an NCAA Division III record. The Rams became the first team to produce 12 doubles in one outing since 2011.
- Suffolk's 8-0 GNAC start is the best under Anthony Del Prete and since opening league 9-0 in 2014.
- Higgins is the first Ram to hit a grand slam since JC Collette rocked one in a 7-5 win at Salem State March 28, 2014. Higgins is the first player to unload the bases with a ball out of the park at East Boston Memorial Park and under the guidance of Del Prete.
