MILTON, Mass. – The Suffolk baseball team ran its win streak to seven Tuesday night at Jack Valley Diamond as the Rams defeated Curry, 10-6, in non-conference action.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 3-0 after three innings, Suffolk opened its scoring in the top of the fourth. Seth Coiley took advantage of a Curry error to lead off and Matt Brenner's double to left put the junior outfielder in scoring position. Greg Spelitois' 63 ground out brought in Coiley for the Rams' first run of the day. The Rams used the Colonels' second error of the frame let Brenner come in to trim the margin to one, 3-2.
The tides turned for Suffolk in the top of the fifth. Trevor Lee led off with a single to short, advance to second on a pitching error and took second thanks to a sac bunt by Kevin Higgins. Brady Chant's double to left leveled the playing field as Lee came in and Seth Coiley wore a pitch to put two runners on. Brenner barreled long ball over the left field fence, bringing in Chant and Coiley with him, to gain a 6-3 Rams' edge. Kevin Belskie's rBI single through the right side pushed Suffolk's lead to four as Speliotis came in on the play.
The teams traded two runs in the sixth before the blue-and-gold tacked on an insurance run in the seventh and kept the Colonels off the scoreboard the remainder of the way to lock up the 10-6 win.
STATISTICALLY SPEAKING
- Brenner had a day, going 2-for-5 at the plate with one double, one homer, three RBI and two runs scored.
- Speliotis performed at the plate with a 2-for-3 effort with two walks, for two runs scored and one RBI.
- Higgins had a multiple hit day, going 2-for-4, scoring one run and bringing in another.
- Chant rounded out the Rams with multiple hits. The junior centerfielder's 2-for-5 showing went along with two runs and one RBI.
PITCHERS PICTURE
- Ryan Pordes kept his record perfect in 2017, improving to 3-0, with seven innings pitched.
- Curtis Tirone saw his first action on the mound in a Suffolk uniform, dealing the last two frames.
NOTEWORTHY
- Suffolk rattled off its seventh straight win, the longest win streak for the Rams since matching that number April 23-28, 2016.
- The Rams matched their longest win streak under head coach Anthony Del Prete with their seventh straight win.
- Brenner knocked his first home run of the season and fifth of his career.
