Chant Collects GNAC Corvias Player of the Week

BOSTON – Brady Chant of the Suffolk baseball team has been named GNAC Corvias Player of the Week after his game-winning, two RBI triple at Salem State Wednesday, the league office announced Monday afternoon.

Chant, a junior from Warwick, Rhode Island, went 1-for-3 with two walks Wednesday afternoon with his lone hit in the outing proving to be the most important, bringing the tying and go-ahead run to propel the Rams to 7-5 comeback victory over reigning MASCAC Champion Salem State.

The award  marks the second weekly honor for the centerfield of his collegiate career and first of the season joining Ryan Pordes, who was named the best hurler over a seven day stretch by the conference for the first time in his career March 20.

Chant currently sits second all-time in Suffolk's annals in triples with 19 in his career behind leader Chris Stanley, who knocked 26 balls for three bases from 2010-13. The 6-foot-3 outfielder's 34 stolen bases also rank among the Rams' top 10 sliding in the eighth spot.

Suffolk and Chant are in store for a hectic week featuring six games over the seven day stretch with action set to begin at New England powerhouse Wheaton Wednesday, April 5 at 3:30 p.m.
