Belskie Earns GNAC Corvias Player of the Week Honors

BOSTON – After turning in a nine-hit, five-RBI and three-run performance over the course Suffolk baseball's  4-1 finish last week, the conference named Kevin Belskie GNAC Corvias Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.

Belskie opened the week with a three-hit, one-run and two RBI showing last Monday afternoon as Suffolk slid past Salve Regina, 16-10, and went on to add a single in the Rams' 3-2 extra innings victory at UMass Dartmouth Thursday.

In the first of back-to-back games at Albertus Magnus Saturday, Belskie contributed two hits and knocked in a run, but the Rams fell short, 4-3. In the second leg of the afternoon's doubleheader, the Norristown, Pennsylvania, native led Suffolk to a 4-1 victory, knocking in two runs, scoring two more, and recording a hit in all three of his at bats, including a triple and a homerun. The junior's homer marked the first of his career in a blue-and-gold uniform.

Through 31 games played this season, Belskie is batting .451 with 22 RBI and 11 runs scored. This is his first league honor of his collegiate career and 10th weekly award for Suffolk this season. Belskie joins Brady Chant, Drew Carter and Jon Lapolla as player of the week, while Worth Walrod (Pitcher – Twice), Kevin Sinatra (Pitcher/Rookie) and Jake Frasca (Twice) have also been recognized by the conference.

Belskie and the Rams have their sights set on the GNAC tournament with second-seeded Suffolk set to host the winner of #6 Rivier at #3 Lasell Thursday, May 5 at  7 p.m. at East Boston Memorial Park.
