Chant Tabbed GNAC Corvias Player of the Week

BOSTON – Suffolk baseball sophomore Brady Chant has been named the GNAC Corvias Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon. Chant becomes the third Suffolk player this season to earn top player honors as he follows seniors Drew Carter and Jon Lapolla

Chant, who hails for Warwick, Rhode Island, was a major contributor in the Rams' successful 5-1 week, which included a Sunday doubleheader sweep at Norwich. Chant batted .500 (11-for-22) in six games with 11 runs, three triples and four RBI. The center fielder slugged .773, walked five times, while finishing with a .593 on-base percentage. He recorded three multi-hit games, two three-hit contest and picked up at least one hit in each contest and a run in all, but one outing. 

The sophomore's standout performance came with a .667 average in the Rams' closer against Rivier. He recorded one triple and a run in the 2-1 win. Chant batted .750 (3-for-4) in Suffolk's 9-2 win at Norwich and scored three times. 

Chant earned his first career GNAC weekly award of his career and the Rams' eighth of the season. Overall, the Rams have 38 percent of the league's weekly award with Lapolla (Player - March 21), Carter (Player - April 4), Worth Walrod (Pitcher (March 14 & 21), Kevin Sinatra (Pitcher - March 28) and Jake Frasca (Rookie - March 28& April 11 all earning the distinction. 

Chant and the Rams returned to the diamond for a midday Patriots Day non-conference contest at Babson.
