Frasca Named GNAC Corvias Rookie of the Week, Again

BOSTON – Following a 4-1 week for Suffolk baseball, Jake Frasca earned conference honors Monday. The freshman was named GNAC Corvias Rookie of the Week, after helping the Rams to victories over top rated competition.

Frasca played crucial roles to the Rams on the bump, in the field and at the plate. The Darien, Connecticut native hit .278 (5-for-18), over the five games, including a pair of doubles and homers, driving in seven runs and crossing the plate four times himself. He was errorless in the field, while accounting for six putouts. On the hill, he threw 2.0 innings, allowing two runs on three hits and fanned three.

At Endicott April 6, Frasca had a slow day at the dish, but made up for in the relief role. The rightie came in with a 1-1 tie on the board in the bottom of the seventh. Holding the Gulls scoreless in that inning, which allowed the Rams to build a 2-1 lead in the top half of the eighth. In the bottom half of the inning, he took the hosts down in order to secure his second win of the season and in as many games.

His bat came alive in Suffolk's home and conference opener versus Saint Joseph's College. The first-year broke open a 3-3 stalemate in the fifth as he bombed a homer to left-center, becoming the first player to hit one out of the park at East Boston Memorial Park, and plated Jon Lapolla in the process to give Suffolk the lead it did not relent to go on and win, 6-3.

In the closer against the Monks, Frasca kept his hit streak intact with a double for a 1-of-3 showing.

At Lasell on Sunday, he started the scoring with a two RBI double down the left line, but didn't stop there. He contributed two more hits, three more RBI and scored twice himself in the 13-8 victory.

The final game of the week saw Frasca cross home once and the Rams put on an offensive onslaught of the Lasers, 17-1.

Frasca, who captured Suffolk's seventh weekly award winner this season, was joined in the weekly accolades by Honor Roll inductee Kevin Sinatra after the 4-1 week. Overall, the Rams have 33 percent of the GNAC's weekly awards with Lapolla (Player – March 21), Drew Carter (Player – April 4), Worth Walrod (Pitcher – March 14 & 21) and Sinatra (Pitcher – March 28), all being recognized this season.

Up next for Suffolk as it steps out of conference play is a showdown at Massachusetts Maritime Tuesday afternoon.
