Frasca, Sinatra Earn First GNAC Corvias Weekly Awards of Career

BOSTON – Suffolk baseball's Jake Frasca and Kevin Sinatra picked up GNAC Corvias Rookie and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, after a 3-0 week for the Rams the league office announced Monday afternoon.

This is the first GNAC weekly award for both Frasca and Sinatra and the third time in as many weeks that a Suffolk student-athlete has been recognized by the conference this season. Thanks to two pitcher of the week accolades for Worth Walrod and a player of the week nod for Jon Lapolla, the Rams have 41.6 (5-12) percent of the GNAC's weekly awards this year.

Frasca had a strong week from the plate, hitting .700 with five runs and four RBI in three games for Suffolk. He recorded a hit in each game and extended his hitting streak to four games. At Wheaton April 25, Frasca paced the Rams at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one double, scoring twice and bringing in one run. The second baseman from Darien, Connecticut came up with two hits in three appearances and one run in the first game at Rhode Island and followed that with a 2-for-3, three RBI, two run and one walk in the nightcap.

Sinatra, an East Boston, Massachusetts product, tossed a complete game shutout of two-hit ball with two walks and four strikeouts in a 13-0 victory over the Anchormen. The win is the freshman's third of the season in as many starts and appearances. The shutout, meanwhile, is the first for the blue-and-gold since a 1-0 triumph over Williams May 2, 2015.

Frasca, Sinatra and the Rams return to the diamond Tuesday, March 29 at Western New England, which jump starts a three-game, three-day trip for Suffolk who will then travel to Bridgewater State (March 30 ) and Curry (March 31). All contests are scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m.
