Walrod Takes Home GNAC Corvias Pitcher of the Week After Opening Week of Play

BOSTON – Following its first week of action in the 2016 season, Worth Walrod of the Suffolk baseball team took home GNAC Corvias Pitcher of the Week honors the conference office announced this afternoon.

It marks the first time that Walrod has taken home the award in his career. The sophomore confirmed himself as one of the Rams top staff members as the southpaw struck out 10 hitters and just one hit over six innings in an 11-1 triumph of Gallaudet. The 10 punchouts are the most by a pitcher in blue-and-gold since Josh Desai '15 threw that number against Albertus Magnus April 12, 2015.

Walrod and the Rams are back in action today at the RussMatt Central Invitational with a doubleheader against Plattsburgh State.
