Baseball Rolls Past Gallaudet 11-1

AUBRUNDALE, Fla. - Sophomore Worth Walrod struck out 10 hitters over six innings as the Suffolk baseball team defeated Gallaudet 11-1 on Saturday evening as part of the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational.

Five hitters recorded a multi-hit game on the evening for Suffolk(2-1) , who put together a 13-hit attack in the victory.

Sophomore Brady Chant was 3-for-4 with a pair of runs scored and an RBI.

Freshman Jake Frasca drove in a run with an RBI double in the seventh inning as he was 2-for-5 at the plate with a run scored.

Senior Jon Lapolla drove in a pair of runs as he was also 2-for-5 on the night, while fellow classmate Rob Marks scored a pair of runs going 2-for-4 on the evening.

Four Suffolk hurlers combined to allow just four hits in the win, while recording 11 punchouts on the night. Walrod went six scoreless innings to earn his first victory on the mound of the 2016 season.

Suffolk earned 10 free passes on the evening, which included eight base on balls and two hit by pitches. Baserunners also stoles six bags on the night, including Chant who led all players with three.

Suffolk will be back in action on Sunday afternoon when they take on Clarkson at 4 p.m. at Lake Myrtle Sports Complex in Auburndale.
