The Fitness Center for Suffolk University

Suffolk students, faculty, and staff head to The Michael & Larry Smith Fitness Center in pursuit of a healthy lifestyle. The fitness center is named for alumni Michael S. Smith '61 and Larry E. Smith '65 in recognition of their leadership philanthropy on behalf of the University.

  • 13-Feet High Ceilings
  • 26 Cardio Machines - treadmills, elliptical, trainers and spin bikes
  • 1,200 Square Feet of Heavy Lifting Space - Free Weights and Benches
  • 10 Units of Circuit Training Equipment
  • Group-Fitness Room 
  • Fitness On Demand in Group Fitness Room, featuring 180-plus workouts from spin to yoga
  • All-Purpose Center - Changing Rooms and Shower Areas

Membership:

  • Memberships are open to all current students - undergraduates, graduates and law - faculty and staff.
  • Eligible members must bring their Rammy Card and swipe in to gain access to the facility.
  • No guest or alumni access.

Policies & Procedures:

  • Users required to maintain six-feet social distancing
  • Users required to wear a mask at all times
  • Users are required to wipe down equipment before and after use
  • Facility is open to current Suffolk University staff, faculty and students. No guest or alumni access.
  • A valid Suffolk University ID must be presented and scanned at time of entry
  • Street clothes and street shoes are not permitted in the fitness center. Please wear sneakers and athletic clothes. Shirts are required.
  • Cell phones are to be used for music only with earbuds or headphones. Please avoid phone calls and conversations.
  • Profanity and foul language are prohibited in the fitness center. 
  • Personal items are to be placed in a cubby or locker while using the facility. 
  • Please return all weights and equipment to their designated rack immediately after use. 
  • All cardio and strength equipment must be wiped down after use. Disinfecting wipes will be provided. 
  • Only water bottles and containers with lids (shakers, Nalgene, etc.) are permitted in the facility. Food, cans and glass bottles and open containers of any kind are never permitted. 
  • Personal training is not permitted.

Athletics Staff reserves the right to revoke your fitness center privileges at any time.

Friday, October 7th – closing at 2:00 PM, reopen Tuesday, October 8th

 

·         Veteran’s Day

Closed Friday, November 11th, reopen Monday, November 14th

 

·         Thanksgiving

Tuesday, November 22nd – closing at 2:00 PM, reopen Monday, November 28th

 

·         Fall Final Exams

Wednesday, December 14th – Thursday, December 22nd, 6:00 AM – 4:00 PM, no weekend hours

 

·         Winter Break

Closed Friday, December 23rd – Sunday, January 1st

Adjusted hours: Monday, January 2nd – Friday, January 13th, 6:00 AM – 4:00 PM, no weekend hours. Resume regular hours on Tuesday, January 17th.
