"Despite the challenges that everyone has faced over the last few months with COVID-19 and being away from campus, our student-athletes have continued to prove themselves in the classroom," said Director of Athletics Cary McConnell said. "As much as we strive for athletic greatness, the accomplishments inside the classroom continue to be a direct reflection on Suffolk Athletics commitment to help shape and mold well-rounded individuals that will thrive outside of the competition."

McConnell continued, "For the first time in my tenure all 19 of our teams had a team grade point average of 3.0 or great, while our 260 student-athletes total a 3.545 grade point average this spring. It's academic achievements that standout from the rest."

The 3.545 GPA achieved by the 261 student-athletes enrolled in classes this spring, who represent the University's 19 varsity intercollegiate teams, is another record achieved by the Rams for GPAs per semester in recent history.

When broken down, nearly 60 percent (153) of student-athletes etched their name on the Dean's List with a 3.5 GPA or greater and 37 percent (96) earned a 3.75 GPA or greater.

More impressive, 32 individuals achieved perfection with a 4.0, the most unblemished GPAs in a single semester by Suffolk Athletics' student-body in recent years, displacing the previous mark of 18, which was achieved twice, in the Spring of 2018 and Spring of 2019, respectively.

Across 2019-20, 11 student-athletes produced a 4.0 GPA across both semesters, five of which have yet to get a grade lower than an A throughout the course of their careers.

Overall, Suffolk Athletics 19 teams hold a department GPA of 3.298, the highest in recent years.
