Porcaro Named Carol Maggio Departmental Recognition Award Recipient

BOSTON – Suffolk University's rising senior Donny Porcaro has been named the 2018-19 recipient of the Carol Maggio Departmental Recognition Award, Director of Athletics Cary McConnell announced Tuesday morning.

The award, which has been handed out for over 20 years, was named in honor of Carol Maggio in 2011-12, the department's longtime Administrative Assistant who served the Rams for over 18 years and is given to a person(s) who has been a valuable asset in the day-to-day operations of the Athletic Department.

Since Porcaro's arrival on campus three years ago, he has been a staple on the mic at hundreds of Rams' Athletic events and has become the known voice of the department on the PA system. His work ethic and reliable qualities have given Suffolk events a boost in professionalism and quality.

Porcaro is the first recipient of the award to not compete for a Suffolk University team since 2012-13 when Chris Cercone, who was the department's videographer during his time on Beacon Hill, garnered the nod.
