My overall experience being a student-athlete at Suffolk University has been a very positive one and I am extremely grateful to be a part of this community. Being a part of the women’s soccer team has affected my entire college experience and I can’t imagine not being a student-athlete.

I was originally at Endicott College my freshman year and then transferred to Suffolk as a sophomore. I did not plan on playing soccer because I did not play at Endicott, so I thought I had moved on from competitive soccer. However, I came across a flyer on the elevator in 10 West when I was on my way to class, saying that the women’s soccer team was looking for players with varsity and/or club experience. I missed soccer so much so it grabbed my attention right away. I emailed the captain at the time, later that day and it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Within a week, I found myself at my first practice for a try-out and played in my first game a few days later. Ever since that day I started every game and played every minute, eventually leading to becoming a team captain this past season as a senior.

As a letter to my teammates, thank you for everything the past three years. I miss everyone who has graduated and will miss everyone who is still on the team. You guys are my best friends and amazing teammates. As much as I wanted to win the GNAC, we came pretty close and I had so much fun playing with all of you. Good luck in future seasons and PLEASE WIN THE GNAC NEXT SEASON!!!

Incoming freshmen: you are just beginning the best four years of life here at Suffolk and especially as a part of the women’s soccer team. You are about to meet your best friends and have an amazing college experience as a student-athlete. If you’re moving off campus in the next few years, live in the North End because it is one of the best areas of the city and another amazing experience. I am extremely jealous that you are just starting and my journey at Suffolk is already over. It really does fly by so take advantage of every opportunity that comes your way; AND GOOD LUCK!

What it means to me to be a Ram is being a part of a special community on campus. Every student-athlete can relate to one another and I love seeing familiar faces around Suffolk and the city. A Ram is a student who is motivated and passionate about everything they do whether it’s athletics, academics, or any other extracurricular activities. Rams are people who create opportunities for themselves to find success and take advantage of those opportunities that fall at our feet. I will definitely miss being a Ram, and am proud to have been one for the past three years.
